Audio amplifiers are used to boost low range audio signals. This is done so that they can power loudspeakers. They came into being with the invention of the triode vacuum tube. This happened in 1909, by a man called Lee DeForest. The result was the design and development of the AM Radio.

Amplifiers utilize the properties of frequency, distortion, gain, and noise. When working in conjunction with one another, the desired volume can be attained. These properties can work together, but they remain separate entities. The amp, as a simplified object is easy to understand. Although, it has made great technological gains over the years.

Audio units have many uses. They can be utilized in the classroom for presenting lessons and slideshows. The amp is also used in school auditoriums to assure that everyone can hear what is being presented. They are, in a smaller, less powerful version is in our laptops and computers. They help us to hear video clips and watch media.

They are even used in board rooms for presentations. Amps can be used wherever you need to be heard, or have someone or something else heard. They help not only the teacher and the business person, but they are also used in the performing arts. Comedians, musicians, and even actors get use from amplifiers.

There are number of manufacturers of amplifiers. Each of them attempt to be the best on the market. The variety of sizes and prices are well varied. They range from between 39 dollars and over 800 dollars. Depending on what you need, will dictate the style, size and price of the unit.

They are used for a variety of purposes, and the larger the audience one is transmitting to, the more powerful the amplifier needs to be. There are units that are small enough to fit into the panel of a compact car. There are also units that need to be moved with a forklift and mounted to industrial brackets to be kept up.

Companies like Crown Audio specialize in power units for the entertainment industry. Other manufacturers make units for industrial uses. They also make units for computers and signal processing. While they have many uses, amplifiers have come a long way from the tubes that need to warm up before they work. They have made our lives a little easier, and little easier to hear.
