Why I Love Audio Books On Cd

Once you are exposed to literature it can have a profound effect on you. The word 'literature' means familiarity with written letters. Throughout the course of my life I have studied and read the works of Dickens, Shakespeare and other great authors. Their work has made me appreciate the frailty of human nature as well as the reality that there are age old problems which depict quite well how the human drama unfolds.

When I was a child my parents purchased LP records which usually featured famous actors narrating or playing a part in a well known story. I cherish those memories as some of the richest ones in my life. It was my first exposure to the great classic works of literature. It was also great entertainment and provided many hours of great conversation with other family members.

Recently I was playing with my daughter and we were engaged in a sword fight straight from medieval times. As my daughter stabbed me with her plastic sword and I confronted my obvious fate I blurted out those famous lines from Hamlet. "To Be Or Not To Be, That Is The Question." What struck me about this incident was the powerful effect these words had on my daughter. She listened quite intently to those lines like a musical conductor hearing an orchestra for the first time. Since that experience she has begun listening to great stories offered on audio books on cd.

I vividly recall listening in enthusiastically as Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn planned their adventures down the Mississippi. Or pondering the challenges of the Swiss Family Robinson as they were forced to learn and master the elements of survival on a deserted island. The stories were so vivid and powerful. They captured my imagination and taught me powerful moral lessons. But they were also just plain fun.

What is the best book you have ever read?
Chances are that same book is available as an audio book on cd.
While I wholeheartedly love reading books, in the past few years I have become a huge fan of audio books on cd. These books allow me to consume literature and powerful action adventures while I am driving my car or multi-tasking on some
project. Besides the entertainment value they have made me appreciate how I spend my time. Where before I would just drive my car, today I can drive my car and listen to the entire works of a Pulitzer Prize winning author. Audio books on cd enrich my life in many ways.

The audio book market is a billion dollar a year market. The industry was founded in 1932 by Congress to help and assist blind to read. These programs were called the Talking Book Program and today cover every imaginable source of literature
possible. There is a rich storytelling tradition embedded on audio books on cd. If you are interested in broadening your horizons and learning more I highly recommend that you start getting involved with audio books on cd.

Home Theater Audio Systems

The new LED television is in place along with the Blu-ray player. It is time to insert that first movie and relax with your home theater. The picture is fantastic. It is possible to see every nook and cranny on the screen, but that high-speed chase sounds like dune buggies. What can be wrong?

Take a close look at the television. The new LED televisions are thin. The thinner is the better for most people. They are less obtrusive and fit well against the wall or on the wall. Then you slide that disc in of that movie you have been waiting to enjoy. Could the television be defective? Probably not. As thin as it is, the sound system must be in there somewhere, but where?

Manufacturers put a lot more emphasis on the picture than on the sound. Therefore the manufacturer can create this tremendously thin television without a tremendous amp or speaker. It is no wonder that the sound is inferior. The solution is home audio systems. No home theater is complete without one of these theater audio systems. A good portion of your enjoyment comes from the sound produced by your system.

The reasons for not having an additional sound system vary from not having a perfect room to not having a perfect ear for sound. Perhaps the room seems too small for large speakers for an audio system. Any of these reasons can be argued and solved.

There are now speakers that will suit the shape of any room. You do not need specific speakers for your theater audio systems. Speakers are produced that can easily disregard the shape of the room and provide the owner with fantastic sound.

If you don't feel your ear is discerning enough to tell the difference, perhaps a visit to your television store will give you the opportunity to experience the various sound systems for your home theater. By switching sound systems on the sets in the store, you will see quickly just how much of a difference the various home theater audio systems make. Your ear is much better than you thought.

The day of large bulky speakers is gone. Although floor speakers may be preferred by some, the technology behind the smaller speakers has progressed tremendously. Some critics will tell you that the larger the speaker is, the better the sound will be. If your room is small, you probably do not want a refrigerator sized speaker planted in the corners of your room. Some companies make speakers that are specifically designed for smaller rooms. If space is limited, these will probably be your choice.

Cost can be another issue for your theater. If your budget was stretched with the purchase of the television, there may not be enough for fantastic home theater audio systems. Companies have been making starter kits that will greatly enhance the quality of the sound in your home theater. You can get starter systems for about $600 or you can spend $1000 for one speaker. You can adjust your purchase to your personal budget.

Your home theater audio systems do not have to start at the top. You can choose to start somewhere and build.
